Money well spent! January 18, 2009

This course has all the basic information you need to get up-to-speed on IFRS and US GAAP convergence and differences in key accounting treatment. I previously took a 2 day seminar by one of the big four firms, and I can say that this AICPA self-study guide is really as good as that course and much less expensive.

IFRS - Good Introduction January 7, 2009
Written by: Julie (Decatur, IL)

This was a good introduction to differences between GAAP and IFRS however I did expect more substance to the course. The text seemed overwhelming at first until I discovered that over half of the text was the example financial statements for 4 companies.

I guess I will need to take the next self-study course to get the in-depth knowledge I was looking for. In conclusion, this course is truly intended to be an introduction and it meets that expectation.

Great feedback and author will consider in next course revision. Thank you! For a less basic and longer course, try the next level 28 credit course titled: Are You Ready for IFRS? Moving Beyond the Basics.

Informative CPE course December 29, 2008
Written by: Anonymous (Dallas)

This was a relatively good CPE course. Since I would imagine that most people purchasing it would have little to no exposure in this area but are interested in learning more, it did a good job of showing the broad differences, rather than the detailed ones that would be difficult to understand without a better background in the subject. In a increasingly international market, this sort of product is just what CPA's need.

Great Introduction October 22, 2008
Written by: Michele M. (Bethlehem, PA)

This self study program gives the reader a great introduction to the differences between US GAAP accounting and IFRS. Its an easy ready with many helpful expamples. While not an indepth look it gives a good skim of what to expect when the standards are combined. One of the easier and understandable self studies that I have used.

Good IFRS Intro September 30, 2008
Written by: Jennifer H. (Kansas City, MO)

My company is considering adopting IFRS and has appointed me to manage the project. I had little prior knowledge of the differences between GAAP and IFRS and this course has helped significantly bridge my knowledge. I would recommend to anyone who is needing a basic understanding or to jump start more in-depth study. The case studies were particularly helpful.

A Great Review September 24, 2008

This course was easy to follow, and was nicely supplemented with plenty of examples. The sample companies were very helpful in showing real-world applications. Also, the chapter summaries and conclusions made it easy to quickly spot the differences between IFRS and GAAP.

Review 28 for International Versus U.S. Accounting: What in the World is the Difference?

A good beginning September 23, 2008
Written by: David (Oregon)

I found this course very useful in laying out the basic differences between US GAAP and IFRS. It read easily, and gave me an beginning understanding of the kinds of differences between IFRS and US GAAP.

On the down side, it sometimes discussed out of date US GAAP. While the course clearly called this out, it became at times confusing.

Overall, I would highly recommend this training

IFRS: Not A Matter of "If", But "When" July 6, 2008
Written by: Mike G. (Salem, OR)

On July 4th weekend, I should have been reading "Gone With The Wind".

But, believe it or not I really enjoyed reading through all the chapters. There is a good balance of breadth and depth of analysis of the IFRS standards and their convergence with US GAAP.

Four interesting exhibit companies are examined throughout. Later I got brave and went looking for more early adopters on the Internet. Sure enough! ... There are a number of firms already switching to International standards. And I felt equipped to make sense of the differing formats, and many notes and schedules.

Well, I think its time for another hotdog now!
