A must have for NFP finance managers

This guide is the starting point for audit & accounting issues in not-for-profit organizations. It is comprehensive and even provides examples (some journal entries & sample disclosures). It is not a one-stop shop, however. If you need to fully address a specific issue, you will need to do further research including referring to the applicable pronouncement. For example, recognition of contributions is addressed but you won't find the answers to all your complex contribution questions in this guide. The same goes for derivatives and hedging activities. Again, this guide is a great place to start and will provide information to direct you where to head next to get your difficult NFP accounting questions answered.

As an accountant in a small not-for-profit, I depend on the guide to verify that accounting transactions have been handled correctly. I refer to the Guide frequently and recommend it to anyone in the not-for-profit environment.
