The Oil & Gas Audit & Accounting guide has been very helpful as a desk tool while performing routine O&G internal audits and responding to accounting questions from auditees. By including direct references to the applicable statutory rules & regulations, I feel very comfortable relying on the presented information as being in accordance with GAAP.

I've used the Banking guide prior to this guide and would say that both are great resources in getting to know the industry. Everything is well organized providing you with a general background of the industry and then specific accounting and auditing issues.
While these are likely to be frequently referenced by staff and manger level external auditors, they are particularly great for anyone new coming into the industry who is looking for a heads up as to some of the major issues the industry faces and/or topics specific to the industry.
Also, these guides are not only great resources for external auditors, but as well as their clients' internal auditors. And I've found most clients are not even aware that such a resource exists. So you may want to think about recommending them to these departments as well.
