Forensic Accounting for Divorce Engagements June 29, 2009
Written by: Syl M. (Bakersfield, CA)

I have been working in litigation support for 3 years doing mostly divorce and fraud engagements. I found the book well written and easy to read with a sense of humor. It kept my interest even though I am familiar with most of the issues covered.
My previous experience was in private industry and I changed to litigation support by chance. I had no training and I was somewhat thrown into the work with little guidance. Had I read this book earlier I think it would have helped me to understand the basics of the engagements better. The book did not go too much into technical detail which is great for a beginner but it may be too basic for someone who is experienced in divorce engagements.

Forensic Accounting for Divorce Engagements June 29, 2009
Written by: Kevin W. (Warwick, RI)

As a new divorce financial planner and analyst, I needed to learn more about techniques to find hidden income and assets to help my clients and their attorneys, especially since this seemed to be an acute need. This book fills the bill as an introduction in this area and to me, was a treasure chest of information.

Though I have a good working knowledge of accounting, the concepts and techniques are written in a simple language (without too much jargon) that is very understandable, even to non-professionals. The examples given to illustrate the particular concept are very clear, practical and helpful, as are the Practice Tips inserted through each chapter.

As a financial professional, I also appreciated the practical advice on marketing my new services and how to skillfully integrate my role into the divorce process and team. The Appendices containing sample engagement agreements, documentation requests and other practitioner tools were a nice bonus as well.

In summary, I would recommend this book to colleagues and fellow divorce professionals, especially to non-CPA financial planners and attorneys.
