Soft Skills necessary to be a Financial Sheriff October 30, 2009
Written by: Myriam S. (Paris, France)

I thought that this book would be about the more technical skills to being a Controller/CFO. But I quickly realized that this is not the case. In fact, I think that a rough working title for this book would be my review title. The main theme of this book was that there is more to being a good Controller/CFO than being good with numbers. It's about coaching, understanding that you are the purveyor of information (and its forms), and knowing your business more than from the financial statement perspective. It was a very useful course that can also be described as a mix of HR, organizational behavior, and general strategy. Very interesting.

Great management tools! January 18, 2009

This course has a host of very good management tools. Although it covers a host of topics, I found the coaching and managerial related topics (measuring employee performance, providing feedback, creating a position description) to be the most valuable and usable tools in the whole pack.
